All the Facts

1 out of every 100 young women between the ages of 10 and 20 is starving herself to death.
Don’t be afraid of the scale! Many women focus their attention on their weight. Other factors to achieving optimal health include body mass index (BMI) and being well nourished. There are healthy ways to lose weight such as an increase in activity, reasonable reduction of calories, avoid adding extra sugar to food, and add more whole wheat and grain foods to your diet. Or, instead of trying to lose weight, kick your old habits and develop healthier alternatives for an overall healthier body.

Am I at Risk?

Plain and simple, the answer is yes. Women of all ages are constantly under pressure from society to look “thin and beautiful”. A woman’s environment, such as a stressful work place or a sick family member, also plays a major role in whether or not she develops an eating disorder.
If you suspect anyone you know to have Anorexia Nervosa do NOT be afraid to confront them. Women afflicted with the disease can get better with the proper treatment from professionals and support from family and friends.
